Organically grown Purple Climbing Bean Seeds - Harvested and Packaged locally from our own garden.
Purple Climbing Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)
Fun Fact: Purple beans are a great source of vitamin C, fibre and vitamin A. They also provide vitamin K, calcium, copper, potassium, and other nutrients, including B vitamins, iron, phosphorus and magnesium.
Preparation and growing conditions: Well-draining soil. Climbing trellis needed.
Sowing: 25mm deep at 10 - 15cm apart.
Climate: Full sun. Not frost tolerant.
Companion Plants: Potatoes, Radish, Brassica family (Cabbage, Cauliflower and Broccoli), Pumpkin, Carrot, Marigolds, Corn, Lettuce, Eggplant, Catnip, Cucumber, Parsley, Peas and Celery.
Avoid Planting with: Beetroot, Sunflowers and anything from the onion family (Garlic, Shallots, Chives, Leeks as they will stunt the growth of beans.
Fertiliser and feeding: Needs minimal fertiliser - aged animal manure (optional).
Germination: 7 - 14 days.
Harvesting: 10 - 12 weeks. Harvest regularly to encourage better yields.
Storage: Refrigerate in a perforated plastic bag in the crisper section for 1 week.
Minimum of 20 seeds per pack. Beautifully packaged in resealable, lightproof Ziplock packaging, designed to keep seeds fresh.
